Worms Cathedral
Aufbauverein / Stadtarchiv Worms
Completed: 2000
Commissioned by the Aufbauverein Worms e.V. and the city archive of Worms, for the exhibition "The Burchard Cathedral – 1000 years of the Romanesque Period", the Burchard cathedral and the Johannes church of Worms were reconstructed as three dimensional computer models as they appeared in the year 1022. With digital technology it is possible to again see the Burchard cathedral, the Johannes church and the city of Worms in its schematic structure in the 11th century. The location of the cathedral and the Johannes church in context with urban development is conveyed to the visitors of the exhibition. On the basis of a schematic presentation of the current cathedral, the Burchard cathedral and the Franconian cathedral, it was possible to compare the size of the Romanesque cathedral with that of its successors.
