Judengasse Frankfurt
Jüdisches Museum Frankfurt
Stadtplanungsamt Frankfurt
Completed: 2024
A virtual reconstruction of Frankfurt's Judengasse around 1861 was created for the city planning office and the Jewish Museum Frankfurt. The synagogue located there is now also available as a digital model. The results can be seen in the street in the form of pictures and can also be accessed on the Internet as part of the ‘Metahub’ project. Here, four different 360° panoramas show the Judengase in
Rundumblicken.
The aim is to recall the part of the Judengasse that still exists in the street today, as well as the more than 500 years of Jewish presence. In co-operation with the city planning office, the idea was born to place a large floor plan of the Judengasse on a neighbouring façade.
A former Jewish cellar from the 19th century has served as an exhibition space since 2023, in which the results of the reconstruction are also presented in the form of films and VR installations.
