Binocular to the past
Stadt Kaiserslautern - 2005
Kulturamt Frankfurt am Main - 2010
At the former sites of the destroyed synagogue there is almost nothing what shows the beauty of the lost architecture. In order to compensate this deficit there was the developing of a concept to show the cultural loss with the help of virtual reconstructions.
The idea was to install viewers which contains 3D stereo images of a computer reconstructed Synagogue. These viewers stand on various positions inside and outside of the former shape of the Synagogue. If one look through them, one can see from these points how the synagogue would look like.
The installations are emulating binoculars. In the city they produced irritation. This irritation reflects the situation on side which is not
normal. Normally there would be a prestigious Synagogue.
